Background

Since the emergence of Google’s patented Page Rank technology, and the popularity of Google as a search engine getting your web site optimised for search engines is only HALF of the process. Google’s Page Rank algorithm ranks web sites in search results based on links from other web sites as well. The factors involved in this algorithm are Link popularity, Link Relevance and Link Authority. Getting more links from sites that are relevant to your web site (e.g. in the same industry) and from authority sites is essential to gaining front page ranking in the search engine search results for a particular keyword search. There are 3 aspects of link building which are considered important by the search engines as described below.


Link Popularity
– Link popularity is based on the number of links to a site, where more is better.

Link Relevance – Link relevance is based on the content or main theme of the web site that is providing the link is similar or relevant to the content of the recipient site.

Link Authority – Link authority is based on the authority the web site providing the link. Examples of high authority sites are governments sites, university sites, library sites, news sites and well known sites e.g. Microsoft.

The goal of link building is to generate links from a series of sites that conform to certain normality criteria called link landscape. To maintain a normal link landscape it is important to follow a diverse Link building strategy, which generates links from various types of site on the internet. These web sites place links on their web sites for a fee. These links add link authority, link popularity and link relevance to your site, and add great value to your web site rankings.

Article Links – We will use articles created by our team of specialist copywriters. Once created, we submit each article to a broad range of article aggregators and content portals. These sites offer a link to the article author’s site, which we direct to our clients web site. These links add link authority, link popularity and link relevance to your site.

Directory Links – There are a large range of directories available, notably Yahoo and Open Directory Project. Most of these sites accept either a free or a paid submission. We submit our clients to a range of directories, producing a large number of directory links. This adds to your link popularity and ensures a normal link landscape.
